Unieke KIVA-filmavond met als thema: 'YOUTH @THE CENTRE’ - Jeugd als middelpunt.
Met 3 inspirerende gastsprekers / Wisdom Keepers van Verleden, Heden en Toekomst die in dialoog gaan – ook met het publiek – rond de vraag: 'Wat heeft de jeugd van ons nodig om hun dromen te kunnen leven?' Dus uiteraard zijn zeker ook de jongeren - extra - van harte uitgenodigd bij deze inspirerende avond. De spreektaal zal deze avond Engels zijn. (scroll naar beneden voor de Engelse tekst)

Daarna een inspirerende dialoog over 'Jeugd als middelpunt met 3 Elders: en het publiek:

In 1968, medicine man Raymundo Tigre Perez (Mexico/USA) had a vision. He saw indigenous Wisdom Keepers from all over the world united in a circular pit - with a fire in the heart - performing a ceremony. A spiritual ceremony for the earth, for peace and well-being of all living beings. Only later did he discover that this was a KIVA, an ancient ceremony already used by the Anasazi 3000 years ago. Hundreds of native Wisdom Keepers answered his call and these KIVA ceremonies have been taking place around the world for more than 30 years. The KIVA ceremony is a collective call from the entire indigenous population: they have never lost touch with nature and with their ancient wisdom they can lead us to a more connected and sustainable way of life!

In this documentary we get a unique view of the KIVA ceremony, where indigenous Wisdom Keepers gather around a sacred fire and express their love via prayers, ancient rituals, songs and dance. But they also share their concern about the care for Mother Nature and humanity! Because of the moving prayers and the impressive conversations with the Wisdom Keepers – the viewer is invited to reflect upon how to heal our relationship with the Earth. ‘Because she is crying and is calling her children home!’

And so the Wisdom Keepers carry out their final call through KIVA-ceremonies all over the world. At the same time they bring healing and answers through their ancient rituals, prayers and indigenous wisdom.

The filmmakers:
Marijke Kodden started filming at the unique KIVA ceremonies in the Netherlands in 2018 and traveled to the KIVA ceremonies in Mexico, India and back to KIVA Holland in 2019. Many Wisdom Keepers were interviewed and together with best friend Rakinah Buttner and Jaap Verhoeven (who they are involved in) they have made a hopeful documentary, showing us how to heal our relationship with the earth!

* MAORI ELDER TOROA APERAHAMA (New Zealand)
“Tena Koutou Katoa, nga mihi Aroha”. Een Maori-groet van liefde voor jullie allemaal. Opgegroeid en onderwezen in de traditionele manieren van zijn voorouders door zijn grootmoeder Te Wharehau, heeft Toroa zijn hele leven rechtstreeks met zijn Tupuna (voorouders) samengewerkt en bewandelt hij beide kanten van de fysieke en spirituele wereld … (Te Taha Tinana – Te Taha Wairua). Door de jaren heen heeft hij veel mensen en organisaties begeleid in hun begrip van de natuur en hen geholpen hun leven dienovereenkomstig te leiden.
Toroa (en zijn vrouw Sharon) hebben zijn energie gericht op de jeugd/de toekomst, vanwege deze gebroken wereld waarin we ons nu bevinden... om hen een stem te geven. "Als de kinderen tegen mij spreken, is dat de toekomst die tegen mij spreekt... nu moeten we naar de toekomst luisteren" Hij heeft een Haka over dit onderwerp gecomponeerd. Hij groeide als kind op in een onvervuilde wereld in zijn geboortedorp in Aotearoa/ Nieuw-Zeeland, en vindt het zijn plicht en zijn verantwoordelijkheid om tegen de jongeren, kinderen en kleinkinderen te zeggen: "Blijf je droom najagen, het kan werkelijkheid worden, want Ik ben opgegroeid in die droom...' Laat Toroa zijn wijsheid delen die teruggaat tot het begin der tijden.

* AVALON ELDER SHARON HEALEY (Australia/UK/Croatia)
Sharon is geboren in Australië, haar voorouderlijke wortels in Europa komen van haar ouders, haar moeder is geboren in Kroatië en haar vader is geboren in Engeland. Sharon is teruggekeerd naar haar roots om de kennis die ze met zich meedraagt te delen. Ze vertelt over de oude energieën van Avalon die voor de mens verloren zijn gegaan toen de vibratie van de planeet afnam, en legt uit hoe Avalon weer deel kan uitmaken van de planeet. Sharon zegt: “We zijn hier om balans te brengen in de realiteit van mens en spirit zijn, en hoe we als menselijke wezens kunnen leven om minder impact op de planeet te hebben.”

* JONGE ELDER MISHKA ROOD (Netherlands)
Mishka heeft in zijn jonge leven turbulente tijden meegemaakt. Hij had geen duidelijke richting en voelde zich volkomen 'verloren'. Hij wilde in geen enkel systeem passen en had altijd een sterke drang om zijn eigen weg te vinden. Dit resulteerde in het ontmoeten van mensen met een zuiver hart, die hem herinnerden aan de kracht die hij in zich draagt. Met deze levenservaringen voelt hij nu een sterk medeleven met de jongeren die vastzitten en ‘verdwaald’ zijn in het leven. Hij voelt het belang van verbinding met de natuur en met elkaar. En om te herontdekken dat wij zelf de natuur zijn.

Sharon & Henry ontdekten - toen ze elkaar in 2020 ontmoetten - dat ze een gedeelde passie hebben voor muziek en ceremonie. Ze brengen allebei hun eigen talenten in, wat resulteert in een magische stroom aan nieuwe nummers. Sindsdien delen ze hun muziek samen als Shaz & the Medicine Man tijdens ceremonies, zangkringen, concerten en vuurbijeenkomsten. Al hun liedjes zijn geïnspireerd door plantengeneeskunde, ceremonies, oude teachings en tradities en de onuitputtelijke wijsheid en geest van de natuur. Hun muziek nodigt uit om thuis te komen.

“Tena Koutou Katoa, nga mihi Aroha”. A Maori greeting of love to you all. Raised and taught in the traditional ways of his Ancestors by his Grandmother Te Wharehau, Toroa has worked directly with his Tupuna (Ancestors) throughout his life and walks both sides of the physical and spiritual worlds … (Te Taha Tinana – Te Taha Wairua). Over the years he has guided many people and organisations in their understanding of Nature and helped them to lead their life accordingly.
Toroa (and his wife Sharon) has focused his energies towards the Youth/the Future and the Environment because of this broken World we are in now...to give them a Voice. "When the Children speak to me, that is the Future speaking to me...now we must listen to the Future" He has composed Haka on this subject. He grew up in an unpolluted World in his home village in Aotearoa/New Zealand as a child, and finds it his duty and his responsibility to say to the Youth, Children, Grandchildren "keep chasing your dream, it can become a reality, because I grew up in that dream..." Let Toroa share his Wisdom which dates back to the beginning of time.

* SHARON HEALEY (Avalon Elder - Australia/Croatia)
Sharon was born in Australia, her ancestral roots to Europe come from her parents, her mother born in Croatian and her father born in the United Kingdom. Sharon has returned back to her roots to share the knowledge she carries within. She tells of the old energies of Avalon that were lost to humans as the planet’s vibration decreased, and explains how Avalon can be part of the planet once again. Sharon states: “We are here to bring balance to the reality of being human and spirit at the same time, and how we must live as human beings to make less impact on the planet”.

* MISHKA ROOD (Young Elder - Netherlands)
Mishka has experienced turbulent times in his young life. He had no clear direction and felt completely 'lost'. He did not want to fit into any system and always had a strong urge to find his own way. This resulted in meeting people with a pure heart, who reminded him of the power he carries within him. With these life experiences, he now feels a strong compassion for the young people who are stuck and 'lost' in life. He feels the importance of connecting with nature and with each other. And to rediscover that we ourselves áre nature.

Sharon & Henry discovered - when they met in 2020 - that they have a shared passion for music and ceremony. They both bring their own talents, resulting in a magical flow of new songs. Since then, they have shared their music together as Shaz & the Medicine Man during ceremonies, singing circles, concerts and fire gatherings. All their songs are inspired by plant medicine, ceremonies, ancient teachings and traditions and the inexhaustible wisdom and spirit of nature. Their music invites you to come home.
