One of the best things we can do for ourselves is eat healthy and nutritious food. Nutrition is called the ‘great medicine’ in Ayurveda. Food that supports our digestive system and nourishes our body will keep us healthy irrespective of our age. A well-balanced diet is the basis for strength and vitality for both body and mind.
In this course you will learn about the digestive fire, the six different tastes, the stages of digestion, food for different doshas, the trigunas of food, supporting and strengthening digestive fire and more.
Day 1 is ‘introduction to Ayurveda’. This package is including this first class. Please contact us if you have sufficient knowledge of Ayurveda and only want to take the two Nutrition & Diet classes.
About Gowri
My introduction to Yoga came at a very young age. Coming from India and born into a family where Indian philosophy, pranayama and asana practice was part of the daily routine, I was passively introduced to various aspects of yoga as a child. From high school onwards, I started studying Sanskrit and learned more about Indian philosophy. After moving abroad for work I pursued many other interests. Around 10 years ago, I was drawn back to my roots and studied Ayurveda. Every time I went back to India I practiced Hatha Yoga and Pranayama under a very competent teacher.
My introduction to Ayurveda:
Many households in India practice Ayurvedic principles in daily life without consciously knowing that they are practicing Ayurveda. Like many other ancient sciences, Ayurveda was initially passed on through word of mouth. My introduction to Ayurveda was also in this manner. I learnt about the importance of daily routines, what and what not to eat during different seasons and which herbs and spices to use for various illnesses from my grandmother. She was an Ayurvedic practitioner and now looking back, it was such an effortless way of learning that I can still depend on when necessary. In 2011, I formally studied Ayurveda to dive deeper into the immense wisdom that it has to offer. I have realised that following simple ayurvedic regimes can keep you balanced both physically and mentally, the only thing it asks from you is discipline 🙂 .
