Workshop van Suzan Lemont

Suzan Lemont keert deze maand terug naar Contact Zone om een sessie van verkenning, spel en deelnemers uit te nodigen om de filosofie van contact-/improvisatiepraktijken te belichamen. Suzan hanteert een ongebruikelijke en brede benadering van “hoe we contact maken”: het stellen van vragen als (bijvoorbeeld) “wanneer hebben we contact, en waarmee hebben we contact?”; “hoe kunnen we meer afgestemd raken op wat ons uitnodigt tot een dans of wat gezien/aanwezig wil zijn?; “Moet ik iemand aanraken om ‘contact’ te hebben, en wat als ik dat niet wil? Kan ik dan nog meedoen?”
De focus ligt op een persoonlijk gevoel van veiligheid en esthetiek en hoe dat past bij een groep, het opbouwen van een gevoel van vertrouwen in onszelf en naar de ander, en het waarderen van wat wel of niet aanwezig is in zowel het individu als de groep in welke situatie dan ook. En spel! Wij spelen met dat alles. Trefwoorden: spelletjes, plezier, mindfulness, relatie, verhalen, afstemming, gevoeligheid boven vaardigheden.
De sessies zijn zeer geschikt voor mensen die gloednieuw zijn bij contactimprovisatie, en meer ervaren beoefenaars kunnen complexiteit en uitdaging vinden in het verweven van verschillende thema's in hun reeds bestaande vaardigheden.
De sessies worden gegeven in een geest van vriendelijkheid, acceptatie, zorgzaamheid en respect en IEDEREEN is welkom, ongeacht geslachtsuitdrukking, religie, ras/etnisch erfgoed, leeftijd en/of aanwezigheid van fysieke of cognitieve beperkingen, zolang ze maar deelnemen in dezelfde geest.

Over Suzan Lemont
Suzan Lemont werkt al meer dan 30 jaar als beeldend kunsttherapeut gespecialiseerd in dansbewegingstherapie, danser/danstheatermaker, schrijver en belichaamde filosofie door middel van improvisatiedocent. Met dit werk streeft ze ernaar mensen te helpen zo geïntegreerd mogelijk te leven, om te voldoen aan de eisen van het veeleisende moderne leven zonder te fragmenteren of volledig op te lossen.

We voeren een contributie naar vermogen in, zodat we de stijgende prijzen kunnen betalen en toch betaalbaar kunnen blijven voor mensen die minder te besteden hebben. Als je het je kan veroorloven om ons te helpen, dan wordt jouw hogere bijdrage zeer gewaardeerd. Alles wordt gebruikt om de kosten te dekken, vooral huur van de studio en honorarium voor de leraar en muzikant.

Vooraf aanmelden en betalen
Je kunt je aanmelden via de website: https://www.contactzone.nl/2024-04-21.php. Je ontvangt dan instructies via e-mail om en te betalen met een Tikkie of een bankoverschrijving. Dat scheelt jou en ons tijd en gedoe in de studio. Het is ook mogelijk om spontaan mee te doen en zonder aanmelding vooraf naar de studio te komen. Je kan dan contant of digitaal betalen.

Praktisch
Iedereen is welkom, beginner, gevorderd of iets er tussenin. Voor beginners is het raadzaam om ook de workshop mee te doen als je naar de jam wil komen.
De studio is op loopafstand van Rotterdam Centraal. Als je met de auto komt kun je misschien een parkeerplaats vinden via de site prettig parkeren: https://www.prettigparkeren.nl/kaart/#!Rotterdam/Schoterbosstraat_17/Zondag/14:00/. Je kunt ook aan de rand van de stad parkeren en voor het laatste stukje een tram nemen.

Veelgevraagd advies over kleding
Het werkt het beste als je flexibele kleding kiest die zacht is, zonder knopen en rits, goed blijft zitten en je voldoende bedekt. We dansen zonder schoenen. Sommigen dragen zachte dansschoenen of kniebeschermers.

Potluck
Het gezamenlijke eten is een optie, je bent welkom om aan te schuiven als je er zin in hebt. Wil je net iets meer meebrengen dan je zelf zou eten? Vegetarisch en veganistisch eten is het prettig, zodat iedereen kan delen. We weten niet of er borden en bestek zijn, dus neem een kom en een lepel mee.

Workshop by Suzan Lemont

Suzan Lemont returns this month to Contact Zone to lead a session of exploration, play, and inviting participants to embody the philosophy of contact/improvisation practices. Suzan takes an unusual and broad approach to “how we do contact”: posing questions such as (for example) “when are we in contact, and what are we in contact with?”; “how can we become more attuned to what is inviting us into a dance or what wants to be seen/present?; “do I have to touch someone to be ‘in contact’, and what if I don’t want to? Can I still participate?”
The focus is on a personal sense of safety and aesthetics and how that fits in with a group, building a sense of trust within ourselves and towards the other, and honoring whatever is or isn’t present in both the individual and the group in any given session. And play! We play with all of that. Keywords: games, fun, mindfulness, relationship, stories, attunement, sensitivity-over-skills.
The sessions are very appropriate for those brand new to Contact Improvisation , and more seasoned practitioners can find intricacy and challenge in the weaving of various themes into their already-existing skillset.
The sessions are given in a spirit of kindness, acceptance, care, and respect and EVERYONE is welcome, regardless of gender expression, religion, race/ethnic heritage, age, and/or presence of physical or cognitive impairments, as long as they participate in the same spirit.

Suzan Lemont has been working as an expressive arts therapist specialized in dance movement therapy, dancer/dance theater maker, writer and embodied philosophy through Improvisation teacher for 30+ years. Through this work she strives to help people to live in the most integrated way possible, in order to meet the requirements of demanding modern life without fragmenting or dissolving completely.

Sliding scale contribution
We introduce a sliding scale contribution, so we can pay the increasing prices of everything and still be affordable for people who have less to spend.
If you can afford to help us, your higher contribution is very much appreciated. All of this is used to cover the expenses, mainly rent of the studio and honorarium for the teacher and musician.

It is also possible to participate spontaneously and to come to the studio without prior registration and to pay cash or digitally.

Practical
Everyone is welcome, beginner, advanced or something in between. For beginners it is advisable to also participate in the workshop if you want to come to the jam.
The studio is within walking distance of Rotterdam Central. You can also park on the edge of the city and take a tram for the last stretch.

Frequently asked advice about clothing
It works best if you choose flexible clothing that is soft, without buttons and zippers, stays in place and covers you sufficiently. We dance without shoes.
Some wear soft dancing shoes or knee pads.

Potluck
The communal dinner is optional, you're welcome to join if you like. Please bring something to contribute, just a little more than you'd eat yourself. Vegetarian and vegan food would be best so everybody can share. We are not sure if there are dishes and cutlery, so you'd want to bring a bowl and a spoon too.
