Siri: Intelligent Embodied Movement

Siri: EMBODIED Movement-

is a movement research session where communication with one's own body is explored in the context as if it is a Siri computer program - by approaching it with simple questions and tasks while in motion.

The focus of this research is based on somatic practices and the study of meta-intelligence of the body as its ability to respond through movement and insights.

Through this research the body is seen as intelligence itself, able to understand and respond to intentional questions. Underlying topic for chatting with one's body is based on the idea of the body's self-healing properties. Therefore, questions are derived from topics of health and wellbeing - in order to experience solutions preferred and communicated from the body itself.

Session always begins with an exploration of progressive muscle relaxation technique as a way to relax and get in touch with your own movement pace and body sensation. Further on the session, gradually, continues towards asking intentional questions to the body and experiencing movement, as a means of communication, that unwraps in the state of flow.

Session and research is led by Joana Čuiko.

Joana after finishing BA in product design has focused on movement practices and visual arts.

She has been studying Butoh dance since 2015 with
teachers Natsu Nakajima, Rhizome Lee, Ezio Tangini, Imre Thorman and others.
That eventually led to her movement research practice focused on body intelligence. Over the years, Joana has been interested in studies on cognition and neurology; her curiosity about the nature of the mind resulted in shaping her movement research practice in direction of mental health and well-being.
