Lakota Medicine man Chief Steve Mc Cullough ('Iktomi Sha' / 'Red Spider'). Chief Steve is a worldwide respected Medicine Man, Chief and Sundance leader in the tradition of the Lakota Native Americans. When leading a ceremony he is the intercessor between our world and the Spirit world.

Wees gul, want hij is voor zijn levensonderhoud in de VS en het daar organiseren en financieren van de jaarlijkse Zonnedansceremonie (De Salt Creek Sundance in Indiana) voor zijn community volledig afhankelijk van de donaties die hij voor zijn goede werk mag ontvangen.

You can offer this donation personally to Chief Steve. Indicative starting amount: € 40,-. Be generous, because he is for his livelihood in the USA and the organization and financing of the annual Sundance ceremony (the Salt Creek Sundance in Indiana) for his community totally depending on the donations that he may receive for his good work.

INHOUD / DAG INDELING
Om 11.00 worden de deelnemers opgehaald met een pontje dat vertrekt uit een haventje in Vinkeveen. Na ca. 15 minuten varen komen we aan op Dryw eiland.
Na de ontvangst met koffie en thee gaan we naar de grote Tipi tent waar de ceremoniële bijeenkomst plaatsvindt. We zitten daar in een kring.
Medicijnman Chief Steve Mc Cullough stelt zichzelf voor. Daarna is er een ronde met de praatstok (talking stick) waarin iedereen kort de gelegenheid krijgt iets over zichzelf te delen.
Chief Steve vertelt vervolgens over de grote betekenis van de Heilige pijp, de Canupa Wakán. Daarna begint de eigenlijke ceremonie met het vullen van de heilige pijp, waarbij de eerste heilige song, de Lakota 'pipe filling song' wordt gezongen. De Heilige Pijp creëert en opent de poort naar de Spiritwereld. Tijdens de ceremonie gebeurt wat nodig is en wat mág gebeuren. We roken samen de Heilige Pijp.
De ceremonie eindigt met het zingen van dankliederen en de heilige Sending Song, zo weten de Spirits dat de ceremonie voorbij is.
Er is een korte lunch pauze waarin we ons tegoed doen aan al het voedsel dat is meegenomen.
Na de pauze vertelt Chief Steve over zijn verantwoordelijkheid als 'Pijpdrager' en 'het rode pad'. Er is gelegenheid om vragen te stellen. Rond 17.00 vertrekken we weer naar de wal.

Meer tijd doorbrengen met Chief Steve?
De zaterdag vóór deze bijeenkomst is hij eregast bij een andere ceremonie op Dryw eiland, de Water Ceremony / Wasi Ritueel (cleansing, Surinam/African tradition, ook een familie dag) onder leiding van medicijnvrouw
Obia Uma Nana Garra Rrana met Romano Raalte als Spaceholder.
Wanneer je je ook voor deze ceremonie opgeeft (tickets verkrijgbaar oo Hipsy: https://hipsy.nl/event/48839-water-ceremony-wasi-ritual-cleansing-surinamafrican-tradition) is het mogelijk om in de nacht van zaterdag op zondag op het eiland te overnachten. Extra kosten: € 30,- p.p
Chief Steve is ook een aantal dagen te gast op Dryw eiland. Het is mogelijk voor een beperkt aantal mensen om in die tijd een persoonlijke ontmoeting met hem te hebben waarin je om heling of steun kunt vragen. Als je daarin geïnteresseerd bent, neem dan even contact op met de organisatoren. Na aankoop van een ticket krijg je een bevestigingsbericht met alle contact informatie.

CONTENT / PLANNING
At 11:00 AM participants are gathering in a little harbour in Vinkeveen. From there the transfer to Dryw island is by means of a small ferry.
After 15 minutes of sailing we arrive on the island where coffee and tea are waiting.
After that we come together in the big Tipi tent, the location of the gathering and ceremony. There we are sitting in a circle.
Medicine man Chief Steve Mc Cullough introduces himself. After that there is a Talking Stick round in which everybody gets the opportunity to share something about him / her self.
Chief Steve starts with explaning the importance of the Holy Pipe, the Canupa Wakán. Then the ceremony starts with the filling of the Pipe, during which the first Holy Lakota Song, the 'Pipe Filling Song' will be sung.
The Holy Pipe creates and opens the gateway to the Spiritworld. During ceremony that will happen what is needed and what is allowed to happen.
We smoke the Canupa together.
The ceremony ends with the singing of Giving Thanks songs and the Sending song, thus the Spirits know that the ceremony is over.
14:00 Short lunch break. We enjoy the food that everybody brought as a contribution (Potluck).
After the break Chief Steve shares information and stories regarding his responsability as a 'Pipe carrier' and there will be the opportunity to ask questions.
Appr. 17:00 PM we will return to the harbour and the mainland.

Spend more time with Chief Steve?
The saturday before this gathering he will be guest of honour at another ceremony on Dryw island, the Water Ceremony / Wasi Ritual (cleansing, Surinam / African tradition, a family day aswell) guided by medine woman Obia Uma Nana Garra Rrana with Romano Raalte as spaceholder.

For some days Chief Steve will be guest on Dryw Island. It is possible for a limited amount of people to have a personal meeting with him in order to ask for healing or support.
