The flashy moves workshop you've secretly been waiting for!
A dive into different families of lifts, with a focus on anchored ones. Where and how to engage our bodies to make our acrobatics smooth, effortless-feeling and safe. How to bring these movements to life in our dancing through musicality, technique, connection... and consent.
Content for all levels will be offered. From beginners to experienced dancers, whether you're looking for a new sequence to add to your repertoire or a deeper understanding of your own body and your partner's, whether you follow or lead (or both), everybody should leave with something to explore.

As a neo tango & fusion DJ, I let the music arise from what unfolds on the floor. I watch how dancers connect, shift, and breathe, and I shape the sound to match their evolving energy. My sets grow organically. Never fixed, always responding to the moment.
Each transition is a conversation between movement and melody, a shared creation with the room. I aim to build an atmosphere where dancers feel invited to explore, play, and dive deeper. When the floor becomes one living pulse, the music finds its true voice.

Gender doesn’t matter. Each dance you decide who would lead-follow or if you want to switch that during the dance, or maybe it isn’t even clear (like in contact improv).
You DON’T NEED any EXPERIENCE to have fun!

- This is an alcohol-free event.
- Consent is key. Ask & respect a "no”.
- Everyone can invite each other (non-)verbally to dance a(nother) song.
- Check in with your dance partner: do you want to lead, follow or switch roles?
- Ask if your partner is comfortable with a close embrace, with lifts or dips.
- Does a dance feel uncomfortable? Be creative: how can I make it a pleasant/inspiring experience? Express your needs and boundaries. At any time you can end a dance.
- If someone felt uncomfortable in the interaction with you, listen attentively, give apologies if needed & learn from the experience.

I'm Lene Van Steenwinkel, a Dance/Movement Therapist & Anthropologist, who loves dancing with tribes/cultures all over the world, to explore the healing power of dance.
In 2018 I founded Kula Dance to create a conscious community in Ghent. I offer Embodied Dreamwork, Consensual Intimacy, Women Circles, Nature Connection & individual/group Dance/Movement Therapy. I discovered Fusion Dance at Burning Man & founded the Fusion Dance scene in Ghent!
