When Are You Dancing?

Expect the principles of making your body available for dancing. In solos we explore how the dance is happening from our own perceptive body. In duets, trios, groups we research the subtle signals of the dance unfolding without me or you doing it. From there we take it to practices that help us move with intention, following our yes, no or maybe, transforming direction, speed, levels, changing partners and patterns, stepping in and out …

We will use somatic inquiries together with the technique of CI, with a a short introduction into sharing weight, balance, off-balance, momentum, pause, manipulation, rolling point of contact.

For all curious movers, no prior experience needed.

About Northern Jam
The Northern Jam is a Contact Improvisation collective initiated by Andrea Sangiacomo and Barbara van Male that aims to support, facilitate and spread CI in Groningen and the northern Netherlands. The Northern Jam usually takes place on the 2nd or 3rd Sunday of the month, and is preceded by a deepening workshop.
