Get in Contact

Over dit evenement

We are all navigating an unpredictable and uncertain world. The practice of Contact Improvisation (CI) in the series Get in Contact explores how can we be at ease with ourselves in a changeable world. How can we train our bodies, hearts and minds to move safely and bravely through the unknown? How can we cultivate ways of relating more trustful to ourselves, others, and the environment in which we live? Meeting these and related questions, you are warmly invited to join Get in Contact.

when & what
Fridays 18:00 – 20:00 (doors open at 17.45, we start on time at 18:00)
1st part: class on a specific topic
2nd part: improvisation on a given score

how
Each session begins with a short warm up, followed by a workshop focused on fundamental principles and qualities that can be developed through CI. Ample space is then given to an improvisational format open to free conscious movement, improvising and experimentation. Each fourth meeting reverses instead this order: we start with a short jam and use it as inspiration to investigate and learn new skills based on what emerged in the dance.

Get in Contact is suitable for both complete beginners as well as more experienced movers. Open-mindedness, curiosity and mutual respect are the only prerequisites for participation. It is possible to attend individual sessions or the whole series. Diversity and minorities welcome and are encouraged to join.

Get in Contact is taught by Andrea Sangiacomo, and it is part of the activities of the Northern Jam, co-organized with Barbara van Male. Andrea is a philosopher, a facilitator of embodied and contemplative practices, and a dancer of contact improvisation. He has completed a Contact Improvisation Teacher Training in Freiburg in April 2025.
