Facilitating power

We will host a 3-hour training on inclusive facilitation and power dynamics. We welcome people involved in diverse social movements and organizing as facilitators or who have an interest in facilitation (Previous experience with facilitation is helpful but not required).

During the training, we will explore the role of the facilitator, an introduction to power dynamics in groups, and discuss tools for inclusive facilitation and engaging with power dynamics, especially in the context of meetings and decision-making processes. Please note that since this is a short training session that focuses on skills for inclusive facilitation, we will not extensively cover basic facilitation skills or different models of decision-making. Further learning beyond this training is helpful and encouraged, and we can provide further resources for those who are interested.

The training is based on experience-based and participatory learning techniques which requires active involvement from all participants.

The training includes a 30 min. lunchbreak, we will provide some snacks but please bring your own lunch.

Participation is donation-based, there will be an option to donate at the end of the training.

About us

Marco (he/him) is a facilitator and activist rooted in social sciences (anthropology, psychology and sociology). He's dedicated to fostering collaboration, inclusivity, community, and democratic practices within groups.

Fleur (she/her) has been active as a trainer, facilitator and organizer in various organizations including Extinction Rebellion, the Degrowth movement and Stroomversnellers. She is a spoonie, and has a particular interest in power dynamics in groups and how activist education can help groups win.

Accessibility
The space has toilets, is not wheelchair accessible (as there are three stair steps to access the space), and the acoustic is not the best as it's inside a fort (but there will a quiet area zone and an outside space in nature)
