Over dit evenement
Ignite or continue a journey practice for yourself or expand your existing practice. Newcomers and experienced practitioners are welcome!
Core Shamanic Drum Journeying, drawing from shared indigenous traditions, including those from Andrea's own ancestral roots are at the core of the practices. Related rituals, meditations, movement and sound practices, songs, and methods for intention setting and guidance based in our connection with nature and our inner landscape will be shared.
You will meet or deepen connections with your helping spirits who will assist in connecting with an ancestor to transform a personal issue. At the end of September, in autumn, the veil between realms is thinner - it's a powerful time for this work!
The group provides a supportive place to dive deep and experiment with new tools for expanding your consciousness with sound breath, and movement. You will create or augmenting your own intuitive practice and deepen your connection to nature in the place you live. This is a practice of direct connection and it is applied to every day life.
For over 35 years Andrea has used these tools in generating her art work (andreahornick.com), and in all aspects of life. She grew up learning many of these tools from Michael Harner, and has since honed them and received formal training with Sandra Ingerman, as well as teachers from her own ancestral roots, and other indigenous traditions who have wanted to share wisdom at this time on the planet. She’s been sharing these tools over decades in conjunction with her art practice, and in groups such as these. She is facilitating the creation of human/non-human community, and people connecting with their own inner wisdom and that of their environment.
On September 27, you will:
- Establish or deepen your own direct connection with helping spirits which may take the form of: animals, ancestors, wisdom figures, elements of nature, time, the universe, etc.
- Work with your ancestors to move forward with ease in your own life.
- Connect with how what we are working with personally is interrelated with the collective.
- Learn tools for daily practice to bridge your journey work and daily lives.
- PLEASE BRING:
- a journal and pen
- an eye covering
- Please wear comfortable clothing.
- Please eat a light breakfast. Snacks will be provided.
- Sound, breath and movement are our tools for transformation. This is not an event for any mind altering substances.
- This even is in English with Dutch translation provided as needed.
De Meditatietuin in Amstelpark is a peaceful center where our practice will be held by the beautiful garden.
What people are saying about working with Andrea:
“Thank you for one of the most extraordinary weeks of my life. Your thoughtful and loving energy held space for us to come together as one and journey with guides and angels and the magic spirits of Sicily. You lead us on journeys to ancient civilizations and journeys deep into our souls. We danced at night with the Elymians in the Segesta temple during the new moon equinox. We laid down on sacred sites of worship at the Hera and Zeus temple ruins at Selinunte. It was profoundly transformative. All while staying in a fabulous house with amazing food, beautiful swims in the Mediterranean Sea, nourishing mineral baths, and quaint ancient villages. Because of all that you provided, I felt safe and protected and was able to expand into the magic and will always be changed by the experience. Your provocative questions, caretaking, knowledge of the area, its history, and your access to unknown knowledge. I can’t thank you enough.”
- Macie Sears Scherick, Gallery Owner, Los Angeles and New York
"Over the past six months, I followed a journey with Andrea that awakened a part of my intuition I didn’t know I had access to. Through her guidance, I discovered a way of returning to myself ... when I feel creatively stuck, but also at the very beginning of a project, when ideas are still undefined and I am searching for direction. It has become a lifelong tool within both my personal and creative practice. Through the drum journeys, Andrea also helped me discover an instinct for writing microfictions ... not by teaching me how, but by creating the space in which I could uncover that ability for myself. That, to me, is one of her greatest gifts: helping you access what was already there.'' - Denisa, architect and AHK student, Amsterdam
“The retreat with Andrea was the opening of possibilities. In the scared, healing, feminine space Andrea created, I was renewed by the wisdom of the land and the sea — elemental, inspirational and timeless.”
— Leah Rachel, Event Coordinator, Portland, Oregon
"Andrea’s teaching method taught me that most answers lie within ourselves. Digging deep into my thoughts and exploring the inner journeys of my mind is something I will continue to pursue after her classes. It has been wonderful to learn an approach that feels so personal, artistically breaking ground in ways that simply cannot be replicated behind a screen. Thank you, Andrea.'' - Bartolomeo, Architect and AHK student, Amsterdam
"I followed the micro-fiction course led by Andrea during my third year at the Academy of Architecture. I found the unconventional approach with the drumming sessions really rewarding and a welcome break from the structured format of other studio courses. Over the course of the semester it really became a great moment to engage with our senses, ground ourselves and give time to the creative process in a way we seldom get to during our other classes. I enjoyed the process of writing the micro-fictions and learning how to build a narrative. I think the skills I learned during the course greatly enriched my other projects and I was pleasantly surprised how the methods and topics we used in class showed up in other parts of my life.” - Michael, Urban Designer and AHK student, Amsterdam
