The Embodied Therapist - Presence Without Losing Yourself
Part 1 of The Embodied Therapist Series
Finding your way back to yourself, so you can remain fully present with your clients.
A live experiential online training based on Bodynamic Somatic Developmental Psychology.
You know these moments.
A client shares something that touches you deeply.
Without noticing it, you begin to work harder.
You search for the right intervention.
You start thinking instead of sensing.
You feel responsible for making the session successful.
Or perhaps you become quieter, more distant, or disconnected from yourself.
Often you only realise what happened after the session has ended.
Not because you are a poor therapist.
Because you are human.
Every therapist loses presence from time to time.
The question is not whether it happens.
The question is:
How quickly do you notice it?
And how do you find your way back?
This training
This training is about more than therapeutic techniques.
The most important instrument you bring into every session is not your method.
It is you.
Your capacity to remain grounded.
To stay connected with yourself while remaining connected with your client.
To notice the moment you begin to lose yourself—and to return before you become overwhelmed, over-responsible or disconnected.
This is not a skill we master once.
It is a capacity that continues to develop throughout our professional lives.
During this experiential training you will
• Recognise your own early signs of losing presence.
• Discover how your body signals these moments before your mind fully understands them.
• Understand the personal patterns that pull you away from yourself, such as over-functioning, rescuing, adapting or withdrawing.
• Experience practical embodied resources that help you return to yourself during challenging clinical encounters.
• Strengthen your capacity to remain present without losing your own centre.
Throughout the day we combine experiential exercises, reflection, clinical dialogue and practical application.
You will work with one of your own current clinical situations, allowing you to immediately integrate the learning into your daily therapeutic practice.
Our approach
Grounded in Bodynamic Somatic Developmental Psychology, this workshop explores the therapist as the primary therapeutic instrument.
Rather than focusing primarily on techniques, we work with the embodied qualities that support effective therapeutic presence:
• Grounding
• Centering
• Boundaries
• Self-regulation
• Embodied awareness
Whether you are already familiar with Bodynamic or completely new to this approach, the day offers practical experiences that can immediately enrich your clinical work.
This training is for
• Psychotherapists
• Psychologists
• Counsellors
• Coaches
• Body-oriented therapists
• Healthcare professionals
• Students in therapeutic professions
No previous experience with Bodynamic is required.
What you will take home
Rather than leaving with another collection of therapeutic techniques, you will leave with:
• A deeper awareness of yourself as the primary therapeutic instrument.
• Greater understanding of the personal patterns that pull you away from presence.
• Practical embodied resources you can immediately apply in your clinical work.
• More confidence in finding your way back to yourself when therapy becomes challenging.

Closing Reflection
Presence is not something we achieve once.
It is the ongoing practice of noticing when we have lost ourselves...
...and finding our way back.
Again and again.
