Especially for this Amsterdam World Pride we offer shibari classes on Monday afternoons! Suitable as an introduction and to meet other likeminded aficionados. Come join us!

Shibari - Japanese Rope Bondage
Shibari is a practice from Japan that produces connection, trust, and new perspectives of our bodies, emotions, and what is for each of us to feel safe. It can be erotic, acrobatic, or artistic, all of these with the use of ropes, in a well-cared environment with the more than 20 years of experience RopeLounge brings to the space. The main focus of these classes is to teach how to practice shibari in a safe way, while having fun and meeting likeminded people.

During World Pride we see the opportunity to target visitors who in their home countries might not have the chance to explore shibari. Specifically groups that currently don’t have as many opportunities to get acquainted with Japanese Rope Bondage–such as bipoc, FLINTA or older queers.

2-hour workshop & 1 hour free tying
Each event will consist of a 2-hour introduction class during which participants get the opportunity to tie and get tied. After that there will be 1 hour of free tying and/or socialising possible. The approach will be more playful rather than technical. We definitely want participants to have a good time while discovering something new.
Every class the main topic is different.

Participants may come by themselves and will be partnered with others coming alone. Ropes will be provided.

What to wear
Please wear tight-fitting, non-slippery comfortable clothes. Colour-wise it's best to choose something uni-colour that contrasts with the ropes.

Some rules
- Photography is allowed, but only of your own work. No flash. Taking photos may not disrupt or slow down the flow of the lesson. Filming is not allowed.
- Due to allergy to fragrant/perfumed products: please refrain from using any scented or perfumed deodorants or other products (like shampoo, soap, gel, make up, aftershave etc.) on the day. Vegan products may not necessarily be fragrance-free.

Venue & organisers
LolaLieven is the venue and also co-organiser of this event. RopeLounge is the other co-organiser. LolaLieven is located in Amsterdam Nieuw-West and easily accessible by public transport: tram 2 and metro.

Four Mondays: July 13th, 20th, 27th and August 3rd.
