A Father’s Day Circle for Grief, in All Its Forms

Father’s Day is not easy for everyone.

For some, it arrives with a particular silence , the kind that sits beside you while the rest of the world seems to be celebrating. Whether you’ve lost your father to death, to distance, to a relationship that never quite found its shape, or to the slow grief of what never was, then this day can hold a weight that’s hard to name alone.

This circle is for that.

What this is

A gentle, intimate gathering for anyone carrying grief around their father, in whatever form that grief takes. We’ll slow down together, create space for what’s usually held quietly, and sit with what Father’s Day actually brings up without rushing past it.

Through guided reflection, journaling, and a small ritual, you’ll have the chance to say — if only to yourself — what has been waiting to be said.

What to expect

A warm, candlelit space with a maximum of 8 people. A short grounding practice to help you arrive. Guided journaling prompts to explore at your own depth. A sharing circle held with care and no pressure, no fixing, just witnessing. A closing ritual to mark what you carried in, and what you’re ready to set down.

The circle runs for 2 hours. Everything shared in the room stays in the room.

Who this is for

This circle welcomes anyone grieving a father, whether that loss is recent or long ago, whether it came through death, estrangement, or absence. You don’t need to have had a close relationship with your father for this grief to be real. All forms of loss are held here.

A small request

If you’d like, bring one small object that reminds you of your father (a photo, a coin, a piece of jewellery) anything that fits in your pocket. It won’t be required, but it can become a gentle anchor during the circle.

Afterlight Circles are created and held by Buket Solak, who is a facilitator, coach, and space-holder with over a decade of experience in human development and inner work. These circles are not therapy, but they are a space where real things can be said.
