Nonviolent communication: the language of life, the language of love
Do you want to deepen and improve the quality of your relationships? Do you want to learn to express clearly what is alive in you in a way that creates connection with yourself and others? Do you want to learn to stand up for what you need? Then this online, 10-week basic course in nonviolent communication is tailor-made for you.
When you wear your heart on your sleeve and say what you think, you reveal something of yourself. However, openness and honesty gain more meaning when you speak from a deeper layer within yourself: your feelings and needs. This shows your vulnerability and empowers you. It also increases the likelihood of the other person being able to hear you and fosters cooperation instead of conflict.
This course focuses on attentive and empathetic listening to yourself and others, as well as articulating what you feel and need. Even just recognizing and acknowledging feelings and needs can have a healing effect! Attention and respect for what others feel and need are just as essential in nonviolent communication as attention and respect for what is alive within ourselves. Nonviolent Communication equips you with the tools to listen and speak attentively, creating connection with yourself and the people around you.
Themes covered in this course include:
- How to be honest without judging or making demands (vulnerable honesty)
- How to move from self-connection to self-compassion
- How to stand firmly for what you need and ask for what you want while staying connected with the other person
- How to hear the essence of what people are saying, regardless of how they express it
- How to say "no" and hear "no"
- How to connect in conflict
- The power of empathy in dealing with fear, anger, pain, and sadness
- and more!

About Floortje, the trainer
When nonviolent communication crossed my path early 2015, it hit me deep. I was struggling with depression at the time and nonviolent communication (NVC) helped me to deeply connect with my needs and the abundance available to fulfill them (and still does every day). Through small steps, with the support of NVC, I am learning to be compassionate towards myself, a never-ending process of growth. I also discovered the power of empathy in connection with others. It supports me in my desire to experience deep and meaningful connections with people; it invites people to show themselves and share their vulnerable honesty. This is where healing takes place. To be allowed a witness and fellow traveler while somebody is diving into the very depths of their soul is the most beautiful thing for me. Sharing nonviolent communication is my preferred way to contribute to connection among and within people and a way to continue learning and deepening in this work, which is my path of life.
