The White Arrow

The White Arrow is het muzikale project van Marijn De Wit en Juanita Pyl. Hun naam ontstond uit een samensmelting van hun achternamen en staat symbool voor de weg die ze samen bewandelen — zowel in het leven als in hun muziek.

Hun werk is sterk beïnvloed door hun achtergrond in het sjamanisme. Ze maken akoestische muziek die rust en verdieping brengt, met invloeden uit traditionele medicijnliederen en meer vrije, atmosferische soundscapes. Het resultaat zijn intieme nummers die uitnodigen om even stil te staan en naar binnen te keren.

Marijn en Juanita zijn muzikanten, begeleiders en curandero(a)s die werken binnen het Zuid-Amerikaanse sjamanisme. Tijdens reizen naar verschillende plekken in de wereld kwamen ze in contact met inheemse tradities en Maestros, waarvan ze elementen meenemen in hun muziek en hun manier van werken.

In tegenstelling tot hun 'studio-opnamen', kiezen ze 'live' bewust voor eenvoud: een sobere, akoestische set waarin de essentie van de muziek centraal staat. Daarbij worden ze vergezeld door multi-instrumentalist Johannes Siemann. Hun concerten hebben een verstilde, bijna meditatieve sfeer, waarbij muziek en traditionele icaro-liederen elkaar aanvullen. Hun stemmen bezingen een oeroude liefde – een liefde die conditionering overstijgt, geworteld in licht en geleid door het hart.

Medicine music is de stijl waarin ze zich thuis voelen: muziek die niet alleen bedoeld is om naar te luisteren, maar ook om iets in beweging te brengen. Voor hen is muziek meer dan entertainment — het is een manier om te vertragen, te verbinden en ruimte te maken voor reflectie en verandering.

They record most of their albums in their home studio, where they experiment with different instruments and sounds to shape a distinct and personal sonic identity.

During live performances, they deliberately keep things simple, often performing in a minimal acoustic setup together with multi-instrumentalist Johannes Siemann.
