Hi, we are Elena and Joris, the organisers of Playfight Amsterdam. We have a background in communication through Non-violent Communication and Radical Honesty, and as movers with Hidden Body Amsterdam.
We love to play and live life through our bodies and create this space to host a growing community of happily embodied humans who also like to connect to each other beyond words.
We love the many forms humans can connect that is neither verbal, nor sexual, nor sports, nor martial arts or fighting, but simply that timeless, free activity: playing.
CULTURE OF OUR SPACE
Our playfight space is an intentional space. It is structured through simple rituals, and it is also explicitly a space for personal growth.
That does NOT mean…
…you need to stretch yourself further than you want in the moment
…you need to expose anything of yourself that you don’t want
…you need to follow all of our suggestions.
…you need to be serious.
It DOES mean…
…we build in explicit elements that go beyond enjoying the playfight in the moment itself, that encourage reflection and integration of learning.
...we ask that you give our rituals a chance, even when they feel weird or awkward. Not in terms of following the exact form, but in terms of following the intention.
ADVICE, COACHING, REFLECTIONS
Before giving any of these, take two steps:
1. Check your own motivation.
Do you want distract yourself from something? Do you want them to change so your life is easier? do you want to purely support the person?
2. Ask for consent to share your advice, coaching or reflection on that person's actions.
