Johannes Karst is an interdisciplinary performer, composer, improviser and facilitator.
He grew up in Cologne, Germany, studied Music and Media in Düsseldorf (RSH) and then Musician 3.0 at the Conservatory in Utrecht.
After having delt for years with strong pain while playing the cello he decided to start searching for the reasons and patterns behind the tension he was creating in himself.
This search not only brought him to a great variety of spiritual and awareness methods (Yoga, Thai Chi, breath work, meditation) but also into the world of somatic movement (Feldenkrais, BMC, Alexander technique), dance (CI, Gaga) and free improvisation. While he kept on studying his instruments (cello, piano, voice) and composing for varies media and ensembles, his research in himself progressively began to become a bigger part of his life and art. He realized that everything in life is interconnected and strives therefor to compose, perform and teach out of a holistic point of view.
Driven by the power, healing and joy he has received through awareness and free improvisation his mission is to share this experience with as many people as possibility and let them feel the beauty of life through art and improvisation.
