Workshop by Barbara van Male “The floor is yours”

Standing, walking, grounding, falling, sitting, rolling, sliding, rising … The floor is our first - and most fundamental - partner in contact improvisation. Among all the unpredictability in our dances, the floor is always there. And how can we work with that, dancing from the impact of earth’s gravity, the upward force of the floor surface, our soft body tissues on the harder material … We will explore and play with the possibilities the floor gives us, making it a partner in our solo’s, duets, trios, quartets, x-tets.

The Northern Jam is a new initiative by Andrea Sangiacomo and Barbara van Male that aims to support, facilitate and spread CI in Groningen and the northern Netherlands. The Northern Jam is open to complete beginners and movers from different disciplines. Diversity and minorities are encouraged.
