Over dit evenement
What if, for two hours, you didn’t have to take care of anyone else?
If you spend a lot of your time looking after other people, it can become easy to lose track of yourself.
Maybe you’re a mother, a caregiver, or the person in your family or group of friends who is always checking in, organizing things, remembering what others need, and making sure everyone is okay.
Or perhaps caring for others is part of your work. You might be a teacher, therapist, healthcare worker, coach, social worker, an activist, or someone in another profession where you spend much of your day paying attention to other people’s needs.
This workshop is an afternoon to turn some of that care and attention back towards yourself ♡
✦ WHAT WE'LL EXPLORE✦
Many of us become so used to taking care of others that we do it automatically. We notice when someone needs help. We step in. We solve problems. We make ourselves available. Sometimes we keep doing this even when we are tired, overwhelmed, irritated, or in need of support ourselves.
During this workshop, we will slow things down and get curious about this caring part of ourselves.
Through guided meditation, simple body-awareness exercises, playful activities, and journaling, you’ll have the chance to notice:
❈What happens in your body and mind when you step into your caretaking mode
❈What are the motives behind the caretaker part
❈What the caring part of you may need from you
You won’t be asked to fix anything or come up with the “right” answers. The workshop is about noticing what is already there and giving yourself time to listen.
There will be moments of guided practice, individual reflection, and optional sharing with the group. You are always welcome to participate at your own pace.
✦ WHAT YOU MAY TAKE AWAY✦
The intention is for you to leave with a better understanding of how caring for others affects you not only in your thoughts, but also in your body.
You could discover some of the signals that tell you when you are giving too much, what helps you come back to yourself, and what receiving care can look like for you.
Most importantly, this is a chance to spend two hours without having to be there for someone else except you.
