We’re opening our doors for even more young people to experience the magic of Ecstatic Dance with us. For this edition, we’re doubling our available space, creating more room to dance, connect, let go, and move freely together.

Welcome you!
We are Ecstatic Dance Young (from Play Utrecht) and we have the honour to offer these events for you.
Ecstatic Dance is a special dance event based on expressive movement, connection and community. To come together in a place, to move through whatever is there for you in a held environment.

The facilitation and the music journey are designed to bring you closer to yourself and can bring to light what needs to be seen. It is a brave space, all kind of emotions may come up and it is not all celebration or ecstatic. So all is welcome, also resistance! That is also information from your system :)

For us, these dances can be very meaningful and also super silly. We invite you to be with or move through what comes up for you. We know from our own experience, that if we let go of expectations or ideas and surrender, the journey takes us. And also that this is not easy and not always possible.
It is a direct mirror for ourselves aaaaaand it is also super fun! To be reminded of this humbling experience of being human. Lots of happy hormones can be released and it can get ecstatic indeed. We love to dance and we are happy we can do it with you!


Why 'young'?

We find that there is a special energy when many young people come together. Our intention is not to exclude anyone, but to intentionally create a space where younger people can connect, express themselves, and share this unique atmosphere.
It is important to us to create this alternative to the mainstream night life scene, make it accessible for younger people and spread the love!
We are young people, collaborating with young people for young people. Supporting each other with our resources <3


It is all about movement that feels true for you, no dance experience is required.

❥ Practical information:

- Please bring your own cup/bottle for the water and tea we will provide.
- You are just as welcome to come on your own as to come with friends!

Even though you can move as freely as you want, there are some guidelines everyone must follow:
- We dance barefoot (or on socks).
- No talking on the dancefloor: Making sounds is allowed!
- No alcohol or other substances: We will provide you with as much water and tea as you need.
- No electronic devices: You can store all your devices safely in the dressing room.

Language: The language of this event is English.
Cost: €22 (regular), €16 (budget) or one credit from your punch card.

❥ Times:
- Entry at 19.00 (It's nice if you are there at 19.15. so that we can start the opening on time; from 19.30 there will be no one at the door to let you in, so joining later is not possible)
- Opening ceremony with Bart & Pia from 19.30 to 19.50
- Dance journey with DJ from 19.50 to 21.50
- Live music with Vera from 21.50 to 22.00
- Closing circle from 22.00 to 22.10
- Chill space from 22.10 to 22.45

Please note that these times are estimates. Based on our experience, we recommend allowing an additional 15 minutes for the conclusion of the event.

❥ Preparation:
It’s nice to wear clothing that you feel comfortable in. Please note that it can get very warm during the dance, bringing layers is always a good idea. We kindly ask you to arrive freshly washed and to avoid wearing strong perfumes or intense scents.

❥ Location:
ATTENTION! The Ecstatic Dance will be hosted at Biltstraat 166, this is not the usual Play location you might be used to. From Utrecht Centraal you can take multiple buses that stop in front of the location.

About DJ B.Art (Bart): “My philosophy around Ecstatic Dance is to craft an intentional journey. Every journey tells a different story, and every journey can be embodied in the dancers own, unique, way. During this journey I invite the dancer to explore their authentic self-expression through movement, sound and to be with whatever arises in the moment. Come explore with me, together as one!

PLAY organizes workshops, dance evenings, parties, meditations, and festivals for (young) conscious people in the Netherlands, those who want to truly feel alive.
