Voodoo Lounge — een maandelijkse dansavond (Amsterdam, Castricum) die ecstatic dance, conscious dance en soundhealing samenbrengt. Vrij en expressief bewegen, gecombineerd met bewuste aandacht voor wat er in je lijf gebeurt. Je hoeft geen danservaring te hebben — er is geen goed of fout, alleen bewegen zoals het voor jou voelt.
De avond begint in rust. Onder begeleiding van YogiRitmo's stem land je eerst in het lichaam, voordat de muziek je meeneemt. Voel de sensaties die de klank in je lichaam oproept en durf ze te doorvoelen met al je aandacht. Zowel de donkere als de lichte sensaties.

Dan komt de muziek los, wat kan je verwachten?
Een opbouw van twee golven muziek vol Afro, Latin en Etnische grooves die je lichaam vanzelf meeneemt naar ecstatische hoogtepunten.
Net als een eclipse ruimte geeft aan zowel licht als donker, kies ik bewust muziek die beide kanten aanspreekt: tracks die resoneren met je donkere kant, met je lichte kant, en alles daartussenin. De muziekkeuze is gegrond in soundhealing — frequenties en ritmes die je lichaam op een dieper niveau raken. Regelmatig wordt dit ervaren als sjamanistisch of als een innerlijke reis. Vrolijke, uitbundige grooves die je lichaam laten swingen, afgewisseld met zwaardere, diepere klanken die ruimte geven aan het stillere, diepere dat naar boven kan komen — met wel als totale insteek een lekkere dansavond. Tussendoor geef ik af en toe een suggestie of uitnodiging tot een oefening — soms individueel, soms in groepsverband — als aanvulling op het vrije, expressieve dansen.
Tussen de twee golven in ligt een moment van verstilling — een adempauze om in te tunen, te voelen wat er in je speelt, en dit ten volle te doorvoelen.

Na de sessie is er ruimte voor een kop thee met wat lekkers — bijkomen, nagloeien, en ervaringen delen met wie daar behoefte aan heeft. 🍵

Voodoo Lounge — a monthly dance evening (Amsterdam, Castricum) that brings together ecstatic dance, conscious dance and sound healing. Free, expressive movement, combined with conscious attention to what's happening in your body. No dance experience needed — there's no right or wrong, only moving the way it feels for you.

The evening begins in stillness. Guided by YogiRitmo's voice, you first land in the body before the music takes over. Feel the sensations the sound evokes in your body, and dare to fully feel into them with your full attention. Both the darker and the lighter sensations.

Then the music opens up — what can you expect?
A build-up of two waves of music full of Afro, Latin and Ethnic grooves that naturally move your body toward ecstatic peaks.
Just as an eclipse gives space to both light and dark, I consciously choose music that speaks to both sides: tracks that resonate with your dark side, your light side, and everything in between. The music selection is rooted in sound healing — frequencies and rhythms that reach your body on a deeper level. It's regularly experienced as shamanic, or as an inner journey. Joyful, exuberant grooves that get your body swinging, alternated with heavier, deeper sounds that make space for the quieter, deeper parts that can rise to the surface — with the overall aim always being a great dance evening. Along the way, I occasionally offer a suggestion or invitation to an exercise — sometimes individual, sometimes in a group — as an addition to the free, expressive dancing.
Between the two waves lies a moment of stillness — a breathing pause to tune in, feel what's alive in you, and fully feel into it.

After the session there's space for a cup of tea with something sweet — settling, glowing, and sharing experiences with whoever feels like it. 🍵
