CREATE CLAY SCULPTURES FOR THE LOVER IN YOU.
On this evening, we will read stories and poetry about the great irrational force of human life: passion. The kind that makes a person ridiculous. The kind that makes us sing, ache, weep, create, leave, return. The kind that can make two hands reaching for one another feel more significant than an entire lifetime of language.
We will read of lovers, of longing, of devotion and excess. Of the beautiful and the destructive sides of desire. Of the old, almost theatrical love that throws itself into the river rather than learn how to live without the beloved. Of love that is tender, love that is inconvenient, love that refuses to behave. Of love for someone else, a lover, a sibling, a friend, an other specie, an hobby, an interest, anything in life that you desire and makes you feel more alive and makes you go further than you could ever rationally envision yourself going. Did i just do that? :0 Was that me?
Together, we will explore how passion and desire lives in our lives and what it means to give form to these feelings.
Perhaps you will carve the moment two bodies first touched. Perhaps a hand reaching for another. Perhaps grief. Perhaps desire. Perhaps something you cannot yet name. Maybe it was an experience you had a few weeks ago, maybe it’s was many years ago. Maybe it happened in real life, maybe in your imagination. Passion and desire is unique to everyone’s own life! Lets explore it through poetry, feeling, clay and play.
Why clay?
Clay is earth before it becomes object.
For many it has no fixed meaning until we give it one.
We shape it, and in turn, it shapes us. What begins as mud can become a body, a hand, a mouth, an embrace and after fire, something that may outlive the moment from which it was born.
It is about making something true, something meaningful for you.
We want to enter the evening to feel without immediately translating feeling into thought. To let emotion lead the hand. This evening is for everyone who feels like the inner artist needs to be born and who desires to connect with their sense of passion. No experience with clay is needed, just lust for joy!
Come as an curious artist.
Come as a completely unreasonable lover.
This evening is carried by;
Juliette Westerink, breathwork coach, facilitator and curator, creates events centering the body, and the non-verbal, ever exploring their ways of communication and how they help us move deeper with ourselves, others and the world. Through breath, art and story, she creates spaces where we can move beneath the noise of the mind and allow the non-verbal to share its wisdom.
Claire Strengers brings the evening through sculpture, story and an unapologetic devotion to feeling; inviting you to look at clay not as an inert material, but as living matter caught inside the long continuum of life: once earth, once living ground, now something waiting to become. To use you're sexual devotion to limitlessly create and let your inner artist be born!
