Over dit evenement
Shibari is the Japanese art of emotionally connected rope work. 🪢 No tricks. No spectacle. A practice centred around PRESENCE — giving and receiving trust, connection that goes deeper than words.
Since 2023, Sam from Studio ES has guided more than 200 people through more than 40 shibari workshops.
You've already had a taste of it. A few hours with rope, a flash of something that felt bigger than technique — and then the workshop was over.
Most shibari introductions stop exactly where it gets interesting. Too many techniques crammed into too little time, and no one taking the time to teach you how to move into connection intentionally and build real safety.
Now Studio ES brings the Shibari Initiation Weekend to an English edition for the first time: two full days, from the absolute beginning to the end of Level 1A. Technical and connective, guided step by step. ✨
And for anyone who wants to explore shibari as a woman 💃: here you'll find a space feels good and clear from the start, where safety carries as much weight as the art itself, and where you get to feel what it means to give this experience as much as to receive it.
"Sam makes you feel safe and welcome from the moment you walk in." — Inge ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
WHAT YOU TAKE HOME
✅ The philosophy and safety of shibari, embodied — not just explained (Level 0)
✅ The technical building blocks needed to create a smooth flow (Level 1A)
✅ Experience in both giving and receiving
✅ Safety as a foundation, present throughout the whole weekend, not just at the start
✅ A first step into what can become a life-changing practice 🌙
"A calm build-up in a safe environment, expert guidance with a touch of humour, and real room to discover yourself." — Jin ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
SATURDAY — THE FOUNDATION
Safety, philosophy, the basic principles that carry everything that follows. If you've never held rope before, this is where you build trust and confidence, step by step, no pressure to perform. If you've already done an intro workshop, this is where the scattered pieces finally come together into something whole.
SUNDAY — GOING DEEPER
More technique, more nuance. You build a toolkit of building blocks to weave into a FLOW of your own — so shibari stops being a series of steps and becomes a living practice that's yours. This is where the weekend does its real work.
"Truly connecting with your partner, learning new techniques — Sam and the spaceholders guide you so well." —Sietske ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
