Over dit evenement
Rope can be many different things to many different people. To us, rope is a way to play, express ourselves, and see one another. In this workshop, we will share our approach to tying, using different elements to create space for each other and to connect both with and without rope. From there we will show how we can take that energy and flow into more challenging scenes and play.
The workshop will contain a variety of exercises to explore the elements of our style, with the opportunity to directly incorporate them into your own tying. Our goal is to break down a rope scene into three parts; the beginning, the middle and the end. For each stage, we will give you new insights and exercises to explore. For example, we may look at the practice of setting an intention for a scene with your partner. And how we can use space and time between two people while tying. For each of these elements, we aim to give you (rigger and models) input that you can embody in your own way, opening pathways for more creativity and expression in rope.
Instead of teaching a strict curriculum, we will teach in a more organic way, responding to the needs and dynamics of the group. As the workshop unfolds, we will adapt the exercises and focus on the concepts that feel most relevant in the moment. Overall, participants can expect a blend of practical exercises, technical knowledge, and somatic exploration.
All topics will be explained and taught from both the riggers and models perspective. The workshop is presented in English unless everyone present speaks and understands Dutch. The workshop is intended for couples and not for individuals.
Teachers
On_55th is a rope switch based in Amsterdam. He has been practicing shibari for well over 12 years, following rope education from many international teachers. Over the years, he has developed his own style with an emphasis on presence, intimacy, and playfulness. His views on shibari are non-dogmatic and intuitive. In the end, he sees rope and all its technical skills as the pathway to create the most beautiful connection between two humans.
Lil is a switch from the Amsterdam region and a conscious kinkster. She enjoys many different forms of play and a variety of roles, but her main love is—and always will be—rope. She values connection, vulnerability, and intimacy over technical skills, and she has a special spot for emotional play and mind games. Her style is ever evolving and often moving away from classical kinbaku to flow into a more playful style.
