Over dit evenement
This workshop invites you to play, to explore, to express, to learn new ways of being human, through shape shifting and spirit animals.
There are a great many Celtic legends about the power of shape shifting - exploring an animal’s traits, talents and behaviour patterns so closely, that people around are reminded of that animal when they see you. By embodying animals, shape shifters could learn where the herds had gone or what was affecting the fish.
Embodied imaginative exploration is a human superpower. You carry within you a hidden kingdom of internal resources: the tenacity of the Badger, the quiet intelligence of the Fox, or the soaring freedom and piercing gaze of the Hawk. Maybe you are already familiar and want to give space to explore deeper. Maybe you've never considered whether you have an animal aligned with your spirit. All is welcome.
Through guided movement, vocalisation and mask-making, we invite you to shape shift into an animal, to explore and learn from its ways and perspective. This is a radical invitation to cross the threshold into a sacred space where you are no longer bound by your human world.
*What will we do?*
Our journey begins by listening to the universal language of movement that builds bridges to your interior world. Through free movement, you will scan the internal landscapes of your soul for a felt sense: a rhythm, a weight, or a gesture that belongs to an animal ally waiting to be discovered.
After this movement, we will explore with our voice; the sounds that find us during a vocal exploratory exercise, allowing unique vibrations or calls to emerge that help internalise the traits of your ally and make them a tangible physical experience.
As we adjust to our new shapes and sink into an intermodal creative flow, we will weave a second skin, a mask to see what was hidden or to anchor your strength. Mask-making allows you to bridge the gap between your current state and the wide variety of internal resources you may need to navigate the complexities of daily life.
Then for 40 minutes, we shape shift. Let the Wild Rumpus start!
We will close in circle, stepping back into our ordinary human selves and grounding with some journaling and meditation. We wish for you to step back into the human world inspired with new awareness of your own resilience.
You are welcome to stay after the workshop to share a potluck dinner.
