THEME OF THIS EVENING: Yes... but body says no
Sometimes, the head goes faster than the body, or the other way around. It doesn’t mean that ENM is not for us, or that fantasies or needs cannot be fulfilled. When do we hold back, and when do we stretch ourselves? How do we strike a balance, deepening our ENM practice and relationships at a pace that works for us? What do you really want, right now?
Three scenarios:
1. Velvet curtains, champagne buckets and two people you’re chemically drawn to wait for you in a hotel room. Things have been building up to this moment - but your body says no. Tension all over. Will you go through with it because of the designed scenario, or will you order pizza and watch Friends instead, accepting the situation?
2. Still in the afterglow of a family gathering with your steady, you open the car door for your new date to hop in. They lean over to kiss you in casual greeting, but it being the second person within 24 hours confuses you. It could be weird, but it could also be nice. How do you proceed?
3. From cosy book club dates that make you want to undust your library card to kink experiences that turn shame into empowerment - your partner has been exploring, and you’ve been here for it. These compartmentalised connections have felt comfortable, but now you suddenly don’t feel so good. Your partner is packing for a sleepover with an actual crush, and you don’t feel ready for it. What to do?
Yes, no, maybe and the magical: not yet. In this edition of Poly Stories, we explore the power of vocabulary and learn to tune into body and mind. In exploring something new, we don’t need to have everything all at once. What we want in theory and in practice, are not always the same, or may need to be reached step by step. Other times, we may catch ourselves by surprise, feeling comfortable taking something one step further. Doing less, or more, than originally intended or agreed upon, is fine, as long as everyone is into it.
THIS IS FOR YOU WHEN
This evening is for anyone: whether you’re just starting out or already experienced in non-monogamy/open relationships/polyamory.
