Welcoming Wakinyan weekend with Kristofer Twofeathers

We have the great honor to receive Sundancer Kristofer TwoFeathers in the Netherlands. He has been in the Inipi (Sweat Lodge) for 40 years and was taken into the Lodge in the US as a young boy.

On March 19-20-21 he will come to Avani to lead a Singing Circle with original Lakota (and other tribes) songs, teach us about the welcoming of the Thunder Beings (Wakinyan), pour Sunset Lodges and Sunrise Lodges. An unforgettable experience. You can't get any closer to the source of this beautiful ceremony.

Welcoming Wakinyan is a traditional Lakota ceremony held annually around the Spring Equinox, marking the renewal of life with nurturing rains, healing, and a chance for spiritual growth and gratitude for the season's blessings.

Lakota say:

"Fire eventually becomes water and in the water there is fire. Around spring equinox we unite in the womb of or common grandmother Earth to give thanks. We cultivate thanks through our prayers our united voice as one in the purification lodge for the rains, the four winds that bring the rains and the thunder beings which announce the return of the rains.
Each morning after sunrise we will return to grandmother’s womb and celebrate the water and it’s teaching of care the female love of the universe.
The evening around sunset we enter into the purification lodge and celebrate the fire, the star teachings, tune our ears to the stone people, the lighting and cultivate courage as one human tribe to protect all life."

Practical:
♡ What does the Welcoming Wakinyan look like?
We will start on thursday evening with a singing circle.
On friday and saturday we'll have a sunrise lodge and a sunset lodge.
In the morning we give thanks with the water ceremony. We'll give thanks to the water and receive water teachings. In the evening lodge we receive Fire teachings, as the Fire is in the Water that renews life.

Each day and each lodge we'll deepen the teachings of Water, Fire and Stone teachings.

With getting your ticket via Hipsy, we reserved you a spot.

You can join the whole three days with sleeping on the beautiful land of AVANI. Other option is only to join one or more lodges.

Thursday - Singing Circle
You are welcome on Thursday, March 19th to join the singing circle.
We'll be singing ancient Lakota, Seneca and more songs which have been passed on from generation to generation. Some of those songs are also sung inside the Lodges later on.

Friday - Water & Fire Teachings & Two Inipi Ceremony
On Friday we'll be learning about the Water and Fire and we'll have a sunrise (9am) and sunset lodge (5pm). Afterwards we eat something together.

Saturday - Water & Fire Teachings & Two Inipi Ceremony
On Saturday we'll deepen the teachings and honour the Wakinyan by Water Ceremony and Fire Teachings. We'll also receive Inyan Teachings, the stones. All of this within two Inipi's; one in the morning (9am) and one in the evening (5pm).

There is no indication of how long a lodge will take, but you can assume that you can go home on Saturday around 22 / 23 PM.

Donation:
€400 - All days - including 2 overnight stays, four Inipi's, singing circle and Lakota teachings

€20 - Singing Circle
€90 - One lodge (friday or saturday)
€150 - Friday (sunrise & sunset lodge)
€150 - Saturday (sunrise & sunset lodge)

Coffee, tea and simple snacks are included. Other meals we bring together in potluck style.
