So, you want to mix like a pro or just want to understand what DJs actually do, but the gear feels like a spaceship? Do you wonder what else is possible besides mixing existing tracks together? Do you make playlists at home, and dream of playing them in front of an audience? Do you sometimes feel stuck playing the same types of transitions and wonder how to bring more excitement into your sets? Or you just feel like pressing colorful buttons that make cool sounds.
We believe DJing is more than syncing beats, it’s about getting in tune with yourself, the music, and the people on the dancefloor. It’s about crafting journeys, playing with sounds, and creating unforgettable moments.
That’s why on March 21, DJs YARL and Navid Divana are hosting a hands-on workshop in Amsterdam showing you the basics, and how to go beyond. This isn’t your typical “press play and pray” session. It’s a hands-on, sweaty-palms, get-your-fingers-dirty DJing workshop.
What to Expect:
· Traditional Pioneer Setup DJing: Get behind the decks and learn the classic art of mixing tracks seamlessly.
· Software-Based DJing: Discover the power of software like Rekordbox and Traktor, and see how digital tools can enhance your sets.
· Hybrid/Live DJing & Ableton Integration: Explore the exciting fusion of DJing and live performance, including live sampling, looping, and effects, and learn to work with Ableton to create hybrid setups.
· Adding Your Own Flavor: Play around with live loops, colorful buttons, and effects to create sounds that are as unique as you are.
· The Art of Storytelling: Build sets that take your dancefloor somewhere they’ve never been by mixing in key and working with energy levels.
This workshop is for the curious, the adventurous, and maybe the perfectionists who love to share their music but know their sets could be tighter… and their transitions could be, well, let’s be honest, less tragic.

We’ll provide Pioneer controllers (DDJ-800 and XDJ-XZ), 2 Pioneer CDJ-2000 NXS2s, 1 XDJ-700, 2 Technics SL-1200MK2's, an Allen & Heath Xone:96 mixer, Traktor controllers (S2 & F1), and Ableton setups (Launch Control & Launchpad) for you to try out.
