Iedere eerste dinsdag avond van de maand vinden er op Dryw eiland Vinkeveen Lakota Songs zangavonden plaats. In de zomer periode met fijn weer buiten bij het kampvuur, bij wat minder gunstig weer in onze grote Tipi tent (met kampvuurplek) en in de koude maanden binnen in ons 'Ronde huis' (de ceremoniële binnenruimte van het eiland), in het comfortabele gezelschap van de brandende houtkachel.
De Lakota Songs zanggroep van Dryw eiland komt al enige jaren bij elkaar om heilige Lakota songs te leren en te oefenen maar nieuwe deelnemers zijn zeer welkom, ook als je maar één avond mee wilt doen om kennis te maken met ons en de Lakota Songs en de sfeer wilt proeven. Ook kinderen zijn van harte welkom.
De heilige songs worden gezongen bij ceremonies in de Lakota traditie, zoals de Inipi (zweethut), de Lowanpi / Yuwipi (healing) de Sundance en nog vele andere. Regelmatig worden deze ceremonies geleid door 'Native' elders en medicijnmensen die te gast zijn op Dryw eiland en op andere ceremoniële lokaties in Nederland & Europa.
Tijdens de zangavonden herhalen we eerder geleerde songs. En we gaan aan de slag met een nieuwe song. Als het nodig is doen we eenvoudige ceremonies waarbij passende songs gezongen worden. Tijdens de lessen wordt ook gedrumd (met sjamanendrums en soms ook met een grote powwow drum), het spelen van het juiste drumritme bij een specifieke song is onderdeel van de oefeningen. Als je een eigen drum hebt kun je deze uiteraard meenemen.
Bij de lessen worden uitgeschreven teksten gebruikt waarin zowel de Lakota tekst als de vertaling staan.
Als deelnemer aan de avonden kun je na uitnodiging op Telegram lid worden van een groep met digitaal oefenmateriaal (video's, audio streams) en een chattgroep.

Praktische informatie:
Deelname is op basis van donaties, richtbedrag € 15,- p.p. Met dit bedrag worden de kosten gedekt, een extra contante donatie ter plekke is altijd welkom.
Deelnemers worden om 19.00 opgehaald met een boot of pontje in een haventje in Vinkeveen.
Vanaf 19.30 tot ca. 22.00 worden songs geoefend. Daarna wordt iedereen weer naar de wal gebracht. Informatie over route, parkeren en lokatie ophalen volgt na opgave.

Every first Tuesday of the month there is a Holy Lakota Songs singing evening on Dryw eiland in Vinkeveen, the Netherlands. In the summer period, with nice weather, we are outside around the campfire, when the weather is not so good in the big Tipi tent (with campfire spot) and in the cold months of the year inside in our Round House (our sacred ceremonial place), in the comfort of a burning wood stove.
The Lakota Songs singing group of Dryw Island has been coming together for several years now, in order to learn and practice the Holy Lakota Songs. But we are welcoming new participants, also if you only want to participate for just one evening to getting to know each other and the Lakota Songs or taste the atmosphere. Also Children are very welcome.
The Holy songs are sung during ceremonies in the Lakota tradition, such as the Inipi (Sweatlodge), Lowanpi / Yuwipi (healing), the Sundance and many others. Regularly ceremonies are led by Native elders and medicine people who are honored guests at Dryw island and other ceremonial locations in the Netherlands and elsewhere in Europe.
During the singing nights we repeat the songs we learned before. And we always get started with one new song. When appropriate we have short ceremonies that include specific songs. During the lessons also drums (shamanic drums and sometimes a big powwow drum) are used, drumming the right rythm with specific songs is part of the excercises. If you are in the posession of your own (Shaman) drum you can bring it, naturally. During the lessons we use printed texts that hold both the Lakota text of the song, aswell as the translation in English.
As a participant of the Lakota Singing evenings you receive an invitation to become a member of a group on Telegram with digital training materials (video's, audio's and streams) and a chattgroup.

Practical information:
Participation is on the bases of donations, reference amount 15,- euro pro person. With this amount we can cover the costs, an extra donation on the spot is always welcome.
Participants are picked up by boat or little ferry at 7 PM in a small Marina in Vinkeveen.
Starting 7'30 PM until appr. 10 PM we practice the songs, after which all participants are brought back to shore. Information regarding route, parking and the transfer location you will receive after registration.
