The Northern Jam
Sunday 23 February 2025 - Workshop & Jam
Workshop by Robin Berkelmans
Pathways, momentum, effortless flow
This is an invitation to move with less effort and with the experience of flow. This workshop dives into the felt experience of momentum and natural movement pathways, exploring how flow arises when we trust the body’s intelligence. From that as a foundation we will develop a refined orientation to mobility, so that we can find it in dancing with others.
Expect a session which asks and evokes presence and connection with ourselves and our partners.
As contact improvisation is such a rich field, the Northern Jam aims to offer a diversity of teachers and topics. And we are very happy that Robin Berkelmans comes to Groningen! His workshop is very suitable for all levels movers and dancers.
About Robin
Robin has a rich and deep background as a dancer and as a teacher. For 20 years he has been teaching dance and movement at all levels: students at dance and theatre academies, professionals, dance enthusiasts, newcomers. Teaching at the Freiburg CI Festival in 2014 gave him the strong impulse to share CI in the Netherlands. With workshops, jams, gatherings and the recent years as co-organizer of the annual The Netherlands Contact Improvisation Festival. Due to his ongoing curiosity for movement he practiced and taught in disciplines as contemporary dance, physical theatre, thai massage, tai chi and chi kung.
