Are you new to breathwork or already experienced but want to understand more on how breathing influences our nervous system?
This workshop is for everyone who is curious about taking control of his/her breathing and how it can influence the way we experience life.
My mission as a chiropractor is to reconnect people back to the innate wisdom that governs our body and help them find sustainable ways to help themselves.
The reason I do these workshops is to help the people I serve live more in tune with nature, themselves and their environment. To tune into their needs and wishes.
This session can be in English or Dutch, depending on the participants. As soon as we have someone who will only speak English I will switch to English.
We will start the workshop with a summary on how the breath influences the nervous system and then dive deeper into different breathing techniques, when and how to use them.
- How does the nervous system work?
- The priority system of the brain and how the body survives and thrives
We will cover the fundamentals of breathing, which includes the following:
- Why do we breathe?
- Nose vs Mouth breathing?
- How does the body produce energy?
- Different breathing techniques - why do they exist and what are the fundamentals?
- What can you expect of the breathwork journey?
After the lecture we take a short break to get ready for the practical part of the workshop.
The Practical Part:
1. Q&A for different breathing techniques and short experiences if needed
2. We will spend about 1 hour on a music guided breathwork journey, which is designed to create body awareness, take you to deeper states and land you back safely in your body to leave you relaxed, energised and with a calm mind... and hopefully with some good insights on how to implement the learned material in your daily life.
These workshops and breathing sessions will become a regular thing for people who want to get out of their heads and into their bodies. Every session will be unique and I won't lecture every time.
This time we will be joined by my good friend and colleague Crue, who will help me teach, serenade us with his handpan and act as one of the space holders for the event.
Precautions (for the breathing session):
- Pregnancy (you can join the session but not participate in long breath holds or superventilations)
- Cardiovascular problems, high blood pressure
- Psychological conditions, epilepsy, active trauma or PTSD, history of psychose (if you have questions on this topic, please feel free to contact me. Everyone is welcome but we also want to make sure that I can give you the attention and care you deserve)
- Medication
- Recente surgery or injury
In case of any of the conditions mentioned above, it is not advisable to join the breathing session. Please contact your health provider if a breathing session is suitable for you at this moment.
What to bring:
- Comfortable clothing
- Some water or drink of your choice
- Anything to help you be comfortable sitting on a yoga mat while listening or later when laying down
- Yoga mats, pillows, blankets etc. will be provided
Please be on time for the session. I will permit people still to join if they are running late during my talk but not if you run late for the breathing part of that workshop.
Cancellation policy: unfortunately we cannot refund purchased tickets. You can always make a friend happy or join me at my other sessions.
