Dress code: Most important is to be yourself. We do highly recommend comfortable clothes and flexible bendable shoes.
Who is giving the workshop?
We invited the amazing dancer and teacher Hongsie from Bora Forró Amsterdam. With her lightness and enthusiasm, she totally embodies the spirit of forró. Her classes are fun, connecting and her passion lets you fall in love with forró as well!
Who we are?
Oi! My name is Laura and I have a passion for forró that began in Barcelona. While living there, I discovered this lively dance and instantly fell in love with its cheerful music and playful steps. Forró brings a special energy and sense of connection, something that keeps drawing me back to the dance floor. The rhythmic accordion sounds and the close partner dance always bring a smile to my face. Dancing with other enthusiastic forró lovers creates a sense of community and joy. For me, forró is more than just a dance; it's a way to enjoy the moment and connect with others.
Hi, my name is Maike. For me, forró is all about feeling, connection, and joy. The music is very diverse; sometimes you have energetic, dynamic songs that let you dance wildly and playfully, while other songs are slow and sensual. Above all, I feel a sense of safety and freedom in the forró community to follow my feelings and the energy of the dance, letting the music carry me away. Forró is often danced very closely in an embrace, the forró-embrace, but always with great respect and attunement (and only if it feels right for you, of course 😊).
I am a big hugger myself, and dancing in close embrace creates a deep sense of connection for me, both with others and with myself. After dancing forró, I feel recharged, fulfilled, and full of energy.

Btw, don't get intimidated, these are all very advanced dancers and teachers. You don't need any dance experience to join the workshop!
