Join a new 15-class journey into the world of Contact Improvisation – a dynamic and inspiring dance form based on listening, movement, connection, creativity, and physical communication.

Throughout the course, we will gradually build understanding, confidence, technique, and freedom in movement, while developing sensitivity to ourselves, our partners, and the space around us.

In these lessons we will go through the fundamental principles in Contact Improvisation: sharing weight, balance, off-balance, trusting the floor, our partner and ourselves, momentum, manipulation, rolling point of contact, flying, lifting and improvisation during a dance. We will explore as well the psychological and philosophical aspects of this wonderful form of dancing.

The lessons are intended for people who wish to explore and learn more about this beautiful way of dancing. No prior dance experience is needed – if you already have experience in dance or movement practices, it may support and deepen your learning process.

The course is open to both complete beginners and intermediate movers who wish to strengthen their foundations, refine their skills, and deepen their understanding of Contact Improvisation in a consistent group process over time.

In the classes we will work with:

Physical technique and body awareness
Falling, rolling, spirals, and soft landings
Weight sharing and partnering skills
Improvisation and spontaneous composition
Listening, timing, and communication through movement
Safety, trust, and playfulness
Presence, perception, and relational awareness
The course offers a supportive and welcoming atmosphere where learning can happen step by step, through curiosity, practice, and shared exploration.
