In collaboration with Amarte Funds, Steppin’ Into Tomorrow is continuing the series of intimate live performances in a fresh new space, Hidden Gem Studio in Amsterdam. Next up: Lezaam Beets.

Trombonist Lezaam Beets has been living and freelancing in Amsterdam Netherlands since 2021 when he moved there to study at the Conservatory van Amsterdam. Since then he has performed and recorded in numerous projects including New Cool Collective, Jazz orchestra of the Concertgebouw, Nederlands Jeug Jazz Orkest and many more. Lezaam’s music is a exploration of space and sound expressing life experience and questioning personal growth and wanting to become a better person.
Recent performances include Super Sonic Jazz fest Paradiso with own group, with Jazz orchestra of the concert gebouw with Shabaka Hutchins, performing with Peter Somuah and Nest at the North Sea Jazz 2025 and performing with the New Cool Collective at concert gebouw and being a current member of the Nederlands Jeug Jazz Orkest. By combining jazz traditions with West African rhythmic languages, the music of Lezaam positions itself within a contemporary, intercultural musical practice. It reflects the ongoing evolution of jazz as a living form—one that absorbs influences, honors its roots, and speaks to present-day questions. The music contributes to the Dutch and international music landscape by presenting an authentic, personal voice that values collaboration, diversity, and artistic depth over genre boundaries.

Steppin' Into Tomorrow is the musical doorway for contemporary music with an ear for today's sound. A platform and a community that provides in-depth articles, interviews, radio shows, and events to introduce you to the finest rising talent from Dutch soil and beyond.
Hidden Gem Studio was founded in 2022 with the philosophy to create a space within the city where artists can create, record and perform their unique experiences in a homelike and timeless environment.
