Over dit evenement

Brotherhood Circle: Breakup, Grief & Taking Ownership
Amsterdam | CommonGround

Heartbreak can shake the ground beneath your feet. It can bring grief, anger, confusion, numbness, longing, and the feeling that you have to carry it all alone.

This Brotherhood Circle is an invitation for men to come together in honesty, presence, and support. A space to slow down, to breathe, to feel what is alive, and to be witnessed without having to fix yourself or perform strength.

This evening is for brothers moving through a breakup, heartbreak, or emotional loss — and also for brothers who feel called to show up in support, to listen deeply, and to hold space for other men on this path.

Together we create a grounded and respectful space where anger, grief, tenderness, and truth are all welcome.

> What to expect

During this circle, we will move through a gentle journey of presence, sharing, embodiment, and reflection.

We begin by landing together in the space. There will be an opening, a brief introduction to the intention of the circle, and a moment to arrive in the body through breath and presence. From there, we will go around the circle so each man can briefly introduce himself, share where he finds himself in his process, and name what kind of support he may need.

We will also include a short embodied activation to help move energy through the body, followed by stillness and deeper sharing. From this place, brothers will be invited to speak about what they are carrying — heartbreak, anger, grief, confusion, responsibility, or what remains unresolved.

This is not a space for advice-giving or fixing. It is a space for being seen, heard, and supported. We practice presence, honesty, and grounded connection.

The evening will close with a guided meditation and a few words of integration.

> What this circle is about

Breakups often touch much more than the ending of a relationship. They can stir old wounds, fear of rejection, questions of self-worth, and the pain of not feeling enough.

Many men have learned to stay busy instead of feeling, to be useful instead of vulnerable, to carry silently instead of being held. In this circle, we make room for another way.

We explore what it means to stay present with grief and anger without collapsing into them. We explore ownership — not as blame, but as a mature willingness to meet our own inner world honestly. What happens when we stop placing everything outside of ourselves and begin listening to what life is asking from us now?

This circle is an invitation to let heartbreak become a doorway: into deeper self-awareness, deeper responsibility, and a more loving relationship with yourself and others.

> For whom

This circle is for you if:
* You are moving through a breakup, heartbreak, or emotional loss
* You are carrying grief, anger, sadness, or confusion and want a safe place to be with it
* You long for honest brotherhood and grounded male connection
* You want to be seen and heard without pressure to have it all figured out
* You feel called to support other men with your presence and open heart

No previous experience with men’s work is needed. You are welcome exactly as you are.

Location: CommonGround, Amsterdam

This gathering feels deeply aligned with the spirit of CommonGround: a space for authenticity, permission, and human connection. I’m grateful for the support and guidance in co-creating this event there, and for the way the space invites people to arrive more honestly, lay down their masks, and meet one another with openness.

Duration: around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the group size

What to bring:

* comfortable clothing you can breathe and move in
* a water bottle
* anything that helps you feel grounded, such as a journal or small personal item

Contribution:
This event is free to attend. If you feel called, you are welcome to offer a donation to help cover the cost of the space.

> About the facilitator

My name is Sagar, and I will be guiding this circle.

I come not as someone who has all the answers, but with an open heart and a sincere intention to create a space where men can be real with themselves and each other. I trust the wisdom of the circle and what wants to unfold within it. My role is to initiate, guide, and help hold a safe and grounded container for what needs to be seen, felt, and moved.

> Closing words

You are warmly welcome to join this circle exactly as you are — whether you come with a full heart, a broken heart, anger, tenderness, uncertainty, or simply a quiet desire to sit among brothers.

You do not have to carry it alone.
