Documentary — Gabbers! by Wim van der Aar
Wim van der Aar is a versatile filmmaker with a passion for subcultures and forgotten stories. As a pioneer in found footage, he blends fiction and non-fiction, mystery and personal narratives into films that transcend traditional documentary.
For VPRO he created Gabbers! (2013), a rich and layered portrait of the only truly Dutch subculture. With unique archive material, 16mm footage, and intimate testimonies, the film dives into the music, style, identity, and life spirit of a generation.
Performance — Lisette Ros
In this 2.5-hour performance, Lisette Ros revisits her 2015 work on “rondjes lopen” (walking in circles), rooted in her research into the 1990s Gabber subculture. What began as a ritual of rhythm and release resonates across many contexts—prisons, zoos, nursing homes—where loops mark time, isolation, and endurance.
During the pandemic, this act gained new meaning as a universal ritual of confinement and resilience. With each round, Ros leaves subtle marks on the floor, traces of repetition that build into a visible memory of movement, inviting reflection on how cycles can both liberate and confine.
With this ticket you also gain access to Spatial Odysseys: Mutual Bloom Edition, a special exhibition at Club RAUM (Humberweg 3, Amsterdam). Curated alongside the presentation of our Artist-in-Residence, Catalina Reyes Navarro, the exhibition engages with her research into the nightclub as a space of transformation, decay, and regeneration—where club culture intertwines with ecological imagination.
