Over dit evenement
Join Joy for a powerful 3-day journey as she shares her Stories of the Brave and Humble: remarkable experiences from her path as a registered nurse, midwife, and now birthkeeper. This module explores the spiritual and profound nature of pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood, drawing from Joy’s unique personal experiences and deep insights.
Through this time together, Joy will share what she has learned about bravery: both from the courageous women she has cared for and from facing her own personal challenges, including an investigation following unexpected outcomes in her practice. She invites you to explore the sacredness of birth, unlearn medical conditioning, and embrace a spiritually aligned, compassionate approach to birthwork.
This transformative journey has shaped Joy’s practice, opening her heart to the miraculous possibilities that birth reveals. Her hope is to inspire fellow birthworkers to meet the needs of birthing families with compassion, courage, and a deep connection to the wonders that unfold in each unique birth.
What You’ll Gain:
• Insight into the spiritual and sacred nature of birth
• A shift away from purely medicalized approaches to a more holistic, compassionate practice
• Stories and lessons of bravery in the birth process
• Inspiration to carry the sacred responsibility of birthwork with reverence and openness
This module is designed to empower you to step into your own strength as a birthworker, honour the sacredness of your calling, and serve families with love, compassion, and belief in the miracle of birth.
About Joy Horner:
Joy is a mother, birthkeeper, and former midwife with over 21 years of experience, including 16 years as an independent midwife. She began her career as a registered nurse and has attended births in hospitals, birth centres, homes, yurts, caravans, and even a barn. Now retired from the midwifery register, Joy works as a perinatal consultant, birthkeeper, and mentor. She specializes in supporting families with past traumatic experiences and has trained in shamanic midwifery and Integrative Baby Therapy. Though she never intended to become a midwife, she followed the call of the women she was meant to serve.
